Accommodation on the Estate

For those unable to secure accommodation within the castle itself there is a limited number of cottages conveniently set in the grounds of the Duns Castle Estate. Please see the Estate Map for details of where the cottages are located.

These cottages should be booked directly with the Castle, which can be done at their dedicated website. Note that these cottages are publically bookable, so do not delay making reservations if you have your heart set on one. If you do book one of these cottages please let us know that you have booked, so that we can update the availability state on this website. The rates given below are on a self-catering basis, breakfast at the castle will cost an additional £11/pppn.


North Lodge

Charming stone, bungalow gate-lodge (1820) of the historic Duns Castle Estate. Many original features, stripped shutters and a private Belvedere garden looking over Duns and the Cheviot hills. Situated on the lower bank of Historic Duns Law with beautiful walks on the doorstep and on the Northern edge of Duns with shops and amenities within walking distance.

Cedar Cottage

This four-bedroom bungalow property sleeps seven people comfortably. Set in its own secluded garden beside the historic walled garden and overlooking fields grazed by sheep, this sunny, warm and spacious cottage is ideal for couples, family holidays, walkers, bird watchers, fishermen and people attending the wedding.

Azalea Cottage

Azalea Cottage is a former gardener’s dwelling, nestled in 1200 acres of quiet parkland on the historic Duns Castle estate. This delightfully secluded 19th century stone cottage is set within a profusion of azaleas and mature shrubs, just a short walk from the lake. It is all on one level with only two steps to enter.

Coach House

The Coach House is a charming period self-catering cottage set in 1200 acres of tranquil parkland on the historic Duns Castle estate.

This unusual stone two-storey property is adjacent to St Mary’s House but is completely self-contained with its own entrance porch and garden area and offers accommodation of considerable character.

Carriage Mews

Carriage Mews is part of a substantial stone property set in 1200 acres of scenic parkland on the historic Duns Castle estate.

This first floor property provides light comfortable accommodation with a lovely outlook over gardens and forms a wing of the courtyard just beyond the main castle building.

Pavilion Lodge

The Pavilion is a unique stone lodge set in 1200 acres of tranquil parkland on the historic Duns Castle estate. This 2 storey one-bedroom stone built lodge sits at the base of the high stone archway over the drive, located next to the lake and a 1/4 mile from town.

Its cosy interior is comprised of an open fire and semi-circular rooms.
